Professional Experience

Alison Pulaski Carter is licensed in Arizona and California. Alison’s practice is concentrated in labor and employment law and commercial litigation .  Her practice includes the following areas and recent experiences:

  • Litigation experience in both state and federal jurisdictions in wrongful termination, sexual harassment, discrimination, non-competition/non-solicitation, wage-and-hour, and employment contracts and related matters;
  • Defending employers in class-action litigation, including a national wage-and-hour class action and EEOC initiated class actions;
  • Assisting employers with respect to internal investigations from Board of Director-level investigations to harassment and discrimination complaints to a myriad of other compliance concerns;
  • Advising and representing employers before state and federal agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Department of Labor, Arizona Civil Rights Commission, and California Department of Labor (DLSE), during the investigation, mediation, and conciliation process;
  • Advising large and small employers on a wide variety of compliance issues under federal, state, and local regulations, including FLSA, Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FRCA, the Arizona Wage Act, Arizona Civil Rights Act, California labor laws, California Fair Employment and Housing Act, California Fair Pay Act, and other state and federal laws;
  • Working with employers to enforce non-competition and confidentiality agreements;
  • Drafting employment-related agreements, employment policies, and handbooks;
  • Conducting internal investigations for the purposes of advising clients regarding disciplinary issues and organizational structuring;
  • Assisting clients with alternatives to litigation, including mediation and arbitration proceedings.

Alison also has business and tort litigation experience, including negligence and product liability, contract disputes and business torts, civil rights, professional malpractice, complex civil litigation, and post-judgment enforcement matters. She has also worked as appellate counsel for local and national corporations involving commercial litigation.
